Artgrid launched as a dedicated stock footage platform — a sister company to Artlist, the music licensing service that reshaped how YouTube creators handle audio rights. The founding premise was simple and smart: apply Artlist's flat-rate unlimited-download model to video footage. Pay one annual fee, download as much film-grade B-roll as your projects demand, never worry about per-clip licensing costs again.

That premise still holds in 2026. But there's a structural shift happening that every potential subscriber needs to understand before handing over a credit card. Artgrid and Artlist are being merged under the Artlist banner by their parent company, Artlist Ltd. Navigate to Artgrid's main menu and click on anything outside the Footage section — templates, music, SFX — and you're redirected to Artlist.io. The handwriting is on the wall: Artgrid is becoming the footage vertical of a broader Artlist platform, not an independent product.

That distinction sounds obvious until you've spent an afternoon on competing platforms trying to find a shot that doesn't scream "I downloaded this from the internet." What your subscription covers: You can use Artgrid clips across all major platforms — YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram — as well as commercial and broadcast work, websites, wedding videos, and personal projects. Client work is covered under your single-user licence. YouTube monetization is fully permitted. There's no territory restriction — one worldwide licence covers all markets.

The perpetual licence on published work: Assets used in projects published while your subscription was active remain licenced for continued use and monetization after you cancel.
