Artgrid Review: Is Artgrid.io Worth It in 2026?

Before any feature breakdown, the comparison that decides this purchase for most people — and it isn't against a competitor. It's against another product from the same company.

Artlist Ltd. launched Artgrid in spring 2019 as a dedicated stock footage platform, applying Artlist's flat-rate unlimited-download model to video. Pay one annual fee, download as much film-grade B-roll as your projects demand, never think about per-clip licensing again. That premise still holds in 2026.

But there's a structural shift every potential subscriber should understand. Artgrid and Artlist are being merged under the Artlist banner. Navigate to Artgrid's main menu and click anything outside the Footage section — templates, music, SFX — and you're redirected to Artlist.io. Artgrid is becoming the footage vertical of a broader Artlist platform, not an independent product.

That matters for two reasons. First, active development is concentrated on Artlist — new AI features, editing software, plugins and workflow tools are landing there, not on Artgrid. Second, the pricing overlap works against Artgrid's top tier, as the section above sets out.

That said, Artgrid's footage library is genuinely excellent. 160,000+ cinematic clips at up to 8K, shot by a curated network of professional filmmakers, with RAW and LOG at the Pro tier. If premium B-roll is your specific need — not music, not templates, not software — the focused library deserves serious consideration.

Artgrid's most defensible selling point is simple: the footage looks like it was shot on a real production, not a stock video set. That distinction sounds obvious until you've spent an afternoon on competing platforms hunting for a shot that doesn't announce itself as stock. Artgrid clips consistently hold up in professional edits — lighting is deliberate, framing thoughtful, colour science clean. That's not coincidence: Artgrid selects filmmakers rather than accepting open uploads, which keeps a consistent quality floor.

Format availability is the key differentiator against cheaper rivals. Creator and Pro provide ProRes and DNxHR — the professional intermediate codecs post-production pipelines demand when footage must survive multiple rounds of grading and compositing. Pro adds RAW and LOG for colourists needing maximum latitude, which genuinely has no equivalent at this price in the flat-rate market.

The 160,000+ clip count is far smaller than the volume-led platforms, and that gap reflects a real strategic choice: curation over volume. One interface quirk worth flagging: clicking anything outside Footage in the main menu — music, effects, templates — redirects you to Artlist.io rather than serving those assets within Artgrid. It's a visible sign of the consolidation underway. For pure footage search the experience is clean; as a standalone creative platform, it's deliberately incomplete.

All Artgrid plans are billed annually — there are no monthly options. You pay the full year upfront before you've fully committed to the platform. Every plan includes unlimited downloads (capped at 100/day) with a royalty-free licence covering commercial use globally.

What your subscription covers: Artgrid clips across all major platforms — YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram — as well as commercial and broadcast work, websites, wedding videos and personal projects. Client work is covered under the single-user licence, YouTube monetisation is fully permitted, and there's no territory restriction — one worldwide licence covers all markets.

What it doesn't cover: new projects created after cancellation can't use newly downloaded assets. The assets are usage licences, not ownership transfers, so you can't resell or redistribute them as standalone clips. Automated downloading is prohibited. Crediting contributors is welcome but not required.

One practical note: the 100-download-per-day cap is high enough that virtually no working creator hits it in normal use. It's an anti-abuse measure, not a real creative constraint.

The shape is telling: everything about the footage itself scores 4.2 or above, while the two lowest scores are about the catalogue's size and the platform's future — neither of which is a criticism of what Artgrid actually delivers today.
